I'm going to disagree with you here Peter. Yes the corsi numbers were bad, but they were bad for everyone last night. Morrissey is a puck moving defenseman, make a good first pass out of the zone and get it to the forwards. Last night I thought he was better and getting more comfortable.

So Hellebuyck as the Jets starter this season? Or does Pavelec is remains relevant?

Oh and Kyle Connor playing a 2nd game in a row? Really hope they keep him in Winnipeg this year, this kid is dynamite!

Kid has a nose for the net, pun intended as he's going to rival Marchand.

However as games get tighter I can see him being sent down to work through it in AHL.

Yet there's no way I can hate him as much.

Kyle Connor is a stud. I see him out playing Laine in at least the first 3 years of their respective careers. I wanted this guy to be a King so bad but alas, Dean Lombardi foiled my plans lik he did of Team USA.

Corsi is a brutal stat! worse than plus/minus. The shots Minny got in the first were all from far range and really nothing to worry about, anyone at the game or watching the game can concur. Kompon also said as much in his post game. To criticize a defencemen for keeping the play outside and forcing shots from a distance seems ridiculous. Also, not taking anything away from Ehlers, it was a nice goal, but to say he left Dumba in his dust? really? Isn't the job of a D to force the guy to the outside? which he did! the goalie made a horrible play and couldn't get across in time and Ehlers made a beautiful tight turn. you cant put that on Dumba.

overall, not the most true right up today, keep at it

I hope that Helly starts as the jets starter! I have yet to figure out why the jets keep Pavelec around. they have options, waiver, trade, buy out...... yet they continue to keep him around!

we might see him on waivers yet, but this organization hates wasting money, i remember them playing Antropov way too much right up until his contract expired. I dont think any team has offered us anything for Pav. If goalies start getting hurt, because this is his last year and he doesn't make a ton we could see him get traded early in the season, if of course other goalies get hurt

Don't know why the oilers thread is always locked. But oilers looked like horse poop tonight. Really not impressed with alot vets preseason or not. They all look slow. It's like they all put cement in there boots.

I generally enjoy the bickering and the back and forth. But Corsi and the rest of the "advanced stats" are generally the best way to judge how well a team will perform. Apparently a players career performance Corsi wise is just as useful for predicting future production as past production is.

corsi measures shots for and against, plus minus measures goals for and against. Corsi will not tell you where the shot came from or if it even hit the net, personally i think its over-rated and will always be used but be brought up less and less. In some capacity they can both be considered useful but both have major flaws. I'm just not buying into the Corsi as much as others and find it funny that anyone would take something that measures shots more seriously than goals but hey people are always looking for the next great measuring stick, so have at it

Hey Peter, I have my last pick in my keeper league and I'm considering taking Connor or Hutchinson/Helle. Is connor likely to stay? Who is the Jets starter this season?
